Scholarship Auditions

FOR ANY 4 – 17 YEAR OLD.  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, JUST BRING YOUR ENTHUSIASM!

Working with the support of Hertfordshire County Council Youth Connexions and local authorities in Hertfordshire, Top Hat have set up some annual auditions.  This offers young people the chance to win a scholarship to one of our 5 Stage Schools.  Auditions will run in January each year in five areas across Herts.  There will be 3 scholarships in each of the 5 areas.  A total of 15 students will win a scholarship to attend one of our schools.  They will learn (for free) about dance, drama and singing from industry professionals.

Children aged 6 – 17 years with a passion for performing can attend our open auditions.  They will take part in a fun workshop covering dance, drama and singing.  Participants are not expected to be experts but will just require a passion, potential and enthusiasm for performing arts.
 
This community scheme has been set up in order to offer all children in Hertfordshire the opportunity to attend Top Hat Stage School whatever their financial means. There will be 3 age categories and successful candidates will win a place for a year.  In addition, there will be a number of part funded scholarships that will be awarded too (50% off). Existing Top Hat students cannot apply.

Finalists are judged by an Independent Panel of judges and teachers.  In addition, parents/ students will be asked to complete a questionnaire giving their reasons for applying for a scholarship.
 
We encourage all children to come to the auditions as it is free, fun and informal and will give a taster to what Top Hat has to offer.
Awards are subject to regular reviews and require the selected students to adhere to good standards of performance as well as excellent behaviour.
 

Auditions for Jan 2012 taking place in the following venues:

SUN 15TH JAN = STANBOROUGH SCHOOL, WELWYN = 10am-1pm
GORDON CRIAG, STEVENAGE = 3-6pm
 
SUN 22ND JAN = ST. Albans Girls School = 10-1
HERTFORD THEATRE = 3-6
 
SUN 29TH JAN = WYLLYOTTS, POTTERS BAR = 10.30-1.30

Applicants will be needed for the 3-hour session.
